14:02 triunfa fuera de casa

A más de un año de su realización, el cortometraje titulado 14:02 y dirigido por el tapatío Israel Aubert, ha conseguido llamar la atención fuera del país en varios importantes festivales, entre ellos el Shortfilm Festival de los Ángeles, California, uno de los más respetados en todo el mundo.
Sin embargo, en su natal Guadalajara apenas ha sido visto en algunas universidades y en el Museo de Arte de Zapopan (MAZ). Para Israel es una situación muy triste, ya que también lo mandó a la pasada edición del Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara y fue rechazado “por pleitos entre la muestra y el Chroma, cosas ajenas a mí que me han afectaron directamente”.
Pero como todo buen profeta de su tierra, Aubert ha triunfado fuera de casa.
El pasado 18 de abril fue visto en Quito, Ecuador, dentro de la Muestra de Arte Audiovisual Ambulart, a donde fue invitado.
“Es algo muy grato para mí, que mi trabajo sea apreciado por importantes festivales en otros países, pero una pena que no lo valoren igual en mi ciudad”, reflexiona.
El cortometraje, que cuenta la historia de un perdedor, se llevó a cabo de manera totalmente independiente y con una pequeña inversión de mil dólares (más de diez mil pesos) y se rodó en dos días con locaciones en esta ciudad de Guadalajara.
Participan jóvenes actores y fue producido por Ente Films, proyecto fundado también por Aubert en compañía de Humberto Reynaga y del fotógrafo José Luis Hernández.

I've been trawling the net for quality film makers and came across your entry to the Rhode Island International Film Festival 2006.

I'd like you to consider submitting to the Swansea Bay Film Festival 2007.

Our small city by the sea in Wales is home to a huge number of film stars from the past and present..and even the future we hope. Names such as Richard Burton, Catherine Zeta Jones and Anthony Hopkins all sprung to prominence from childhood homes here in South Wales.... as did the writer Dylan Thomas.

The Swansea Bay Film Festival is opening its doors to the new generation of aspiring filmmakers of tomorrow. We firmly believe that the days of the big exclusive studios have passed and that a new era using new technology will lead the way forward.

I am so sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but 14:02 has not beenselected to screen at HEART OF GOLD INTL FILM FESTIVAL. Having beenthe recipient of HEAPS of letters letting me know my film did not getinto a festival... I know it is disappointing.

We were really touched that so many of you trusted us with your filmsand we have had a total ball viewing them all.... our enthusiasticscreener crew will be dying for it all to start again next year... yourfilms have been a major highlight for them for over 6 months!Of course many possible reasons why yours may not have made the cut....but the main one is always that there is limited available screeningtime compared to the number of films that are worthy of a showing. Insome rarer cases the content did not match what we are after with ourstated criteria.

"14:02" is the latest production of Ente Films, produced in its entirety in Guadalajara, México and made with a budget of $1,000 USD.

Produced by Humberto Reynaga, Written and Directed by Israel Aubert, and Photographed by José Luis Hernández.

With 2 days in location, and the support of many people, "14:02" shows us the sad story of a cruel character... known by everyone...seen by no one.

"14:02" is participating in the Los Angeles Short Film Festival, Rhode Island Film Festival and The golden Heart from the Australian Film Festival.
